Calling all tourism sector professionals in Albacete province, particularly in the Sierra del Segura, Sierra de Alcaraz and Campos de Montiel and La Manchuela, with an interest in becoming “Starlight Astronomical Monitors”, and leading groups seeking to enrich their knowledge of the universe and nature, through sharing, with the naked eye, and simple observation instruments.

Recommended for:
People interested in leading groups in natural environments, to rural accommodation or establishments of another kind; tour guides, spokespersons or other professionals involved in communicating scientific, historical, and cultural values in the astronomical sky to groups through night and daytime observation, astrophotography, and the fight against light pollution.
Course objectives
Training for “Starlight Astronomical Monitors”, specialised in leading groups at night and during the day, to help visitors both enjoy nature and enrich their knowledge of the universe through the dissemination of information, either with the naked eye or through simple observation instruments, and to perceive that nature and the universe are one and the same reality as we humans experience.
Make known, in practical fashion, the professional opportunities that astrotourism offers, the range and unique nature of companies involved in this niche, how to develop this innovative product and the best way to promote it.

SELECTION CRITERIA
1.- Persons working in the tourism sector in the Albacete area with Starlight certification (Sierra del Segura, Sierra de Alcaraz and Campos de Montiel and La Manchuela). Preference will be given to applicants who meet the following characteristics: Active tourism and/or ecotourism companies, tour guides (and local tourist information agents), travel agencies and regulated accommodation.
2.- Tourism sector employees in the geographical area of Albacete province. If the course has not been filled in the first section, it will be opened to employees in the wider tourism industry in the geographical area of Albacete province (maximum 1 person per company).
3.- Residents of the municipalities in the Albacete region with Starlight certification.
4.- If the course has not been filled with applicants meeting the criteria listed above, tourism sector professionals from other provinces of the Autonomous Community of Castilla-La Mancha may apply.
In any case, registrations will follow the strict entry order for each category and considering the cover letter that must be provided as documentation for the training.
